CALL FOR PAPERS Special Issue on Design of Experiments Part B: Statistics (Econometrics and Statistics) Impact Factor 2.5 (Q1 Statistics and Probability) http://www.elsevier.com/locate/ecosta We are inviting submissions for a special issue of the journal Econometrics and Statistics (Part B: Statistics) on the Design of Experiments. Experimental research is essential in many areas of science, including agriculture, biology, chemistry, engineering, medicine and physics. Its efficiency and success depend on the way data are collected and analysed, and statistics plays an important part in such studies. The selection or construction of suitable experimental designs contributes substantially to achieving the necessary validity, statistical efficiency and inferential accuracy of experimental results, at minimum cost. Modern experimental settings increasingly involve complex structure, constraints and competing objectives that demand principled design strategies beyond classical templates. At the same time, connections between experimental design and areas such as computational modelling, causal inference and machine learning are opening new methodological questions. We welcome contributions on the theory, methodology and application of experimental design broadly, whether developing new methods, extending existing frameworks to new settings, or demonstrating novel applications. This special issue aims to expand the frontiers of how we develop and deploy useful experimental designs. Key topics are: Adaptive and sequential designs Computer experiments Designs for compound optimality criteria Designs for dependent observations Designs for mixed models Experiments with mixtures Multi-tiered experiments Designs for nonlinear models Population designs Response surface methodology Robustness of experimental designs Constrained experimental design Screening experiments Split-plot and multi-stratum designs Supersaturated designs Bayesian design Online controlled experimentation Active learning and design for machine learning Experiments with interference or spillover In order to be considered for publication, the papers should have a significant novel component pertaining to Design of Experiments. Papers dealing, directly or indirectly, with theoretical, computational and technical elements are particularly encouraged. Original methodological or computational methods for experimental designs inspired by applications will also be considered. Authors who are uncertain about the suitability of their papers should contact the editors. All submissions must contain original unpublished work that is not being considered for publication elsewhere. Submissions will be refereed according to standard procedures for Econometrics and Statistics. Information about the journal can be found at http://www.elsevier.com/locate/ecosta. The deadline for submissions is 20 December 2026. However, papers can be submitted at any time and once they are received, they will enter the editorial system immediately. Papers for the special issue should be submitted using the Elsevier Electronic Submission tool EM: https://www.editorialmanager.com/ecosta/. In the EM, please choose the special issue on Design of Experiments.
