Title: Musings on projection pursuit

Abstract: The literature on projection pursuit is perhaps not among the largest in statistics, but its existential outreach may be much wider than we realize. We will reflect on projection pursuit research, show examples of important on-going work that can be viewed as projection pursuit problems, and present some recent collaborative work with psychologists, in which our contribution can be said to have been driven by the very idea of projection pursuit itself.
